Have you ever paused in your daily life and thought, “I wish I could keep this moment, just as it is, for the future"?
The innocent, unreserved smile of your child, the complex struggles you face as the person you are today, and the inevitable goodbyes that will one day come. While social media is a fantastic tool for sharing “the now," it isn’t designed to deliver your thoughts and feelings to yourself or your loved ones years or even decades down the road.
Driven by a desire to bridge this gap, I have personally developed a digital time capsule service called “Chronectia."
Why a Digital Time Capsule?
The inspiration came from a deeply personal desire to “preserve."
I love the time I spend with my 4-year-old and 2-year-old sons more than anything!
I often wonder: when I look back on these days years from now, will I really be able to vividly recall the atmosphere of these moments or how I felt in those instances? Memory fades, often in ways that are far too convenient or, at times, cruel.
Furthermore, there are things we often find too embarrassing to say face-to-face, even to those closest to us. Words of gratitude, or important messages to be delivered if I am no longer here—if there were a way to ensure these reach my family, it would become a “letter" of immeasurable value to those left behind.
I also had a dream to create a way to record one’s own life—like an autobiography—but in a more relaxed, accessible, and reliable way for future generations.
Making “Burying" Effortless through the Power of Digital
In the physical world, burying a time capsule is a huge hurdle in terms of finding a location and managing it over time. The simple thought, “I wish it were easier to send a letter to the future," defined the shape of Chronectia.
It isn’t just about storing records. The “Public Capsule" feature integrates with social media. At the future date you set, the capsule will automatically unlock and release your message to the world.
